1. Everyone is proficient at something so, each day, recognize an alternative thing you're good at and morning and evening, invest some time focusing on it and saying out loud, "I'm very good at ...". It doesn't need to be big - maybe something similar to preparing a cake, supporting your mates, DIY, finding bargains, collecting stamps. 4. Acknowledge that nobody succeeds at everything they do. The 'expert' skier may be unable to write a poetry, an excellent cook may be unable to work with a computer system.
5. Even the most confident individuals have something they're not sure about. They're not perfect; don't create pressure for yourself by believing you have to be.
6. Understand that lacking in confidence is a frame of mind. In this state you turn out to be a self-confessed victim and this alters your behaviour. Others don't see you as a failure till your behavior shows them you are.
7. Dramatic changes rarely happen. Usually it's the little changes on a daily basis that matter. If you grow even a little each day, you'll be astonished at the end of a year how far you've come. Thus maintain a diary/record of where you started so that you can see the differences at the end of the year. Make certain your daily habits and attitudes matter, and congratulate yourself on your accomplishments.
8. Avoid being around individuals who make you feel bad about yourself. Their negativity is THEIR problem and has nothing to do with you! Most likely they put you down to make themselves feel better about their low self respect. Try to look for individuals that lift you and understand you.
9. Don't try to do it on your own. Even if you can make some progress it will be more speedily if you seek some support from an advisor or undertake some confidence coaching.
