Blueberries have made it into the consumer media and popular advertising campaigns as a healthful fruit to eat: in addition to being purple, round and delicious, they are filled with antioxidants. The Vaccinium myrtillus L. fruit, known in English as bilberry or blueberry, has powerful protective properties, which have been known and utilized since the Middle Ages.
Today, blueberries are even claimed to be “the most powerful antioxidants of all.” The good news for all of us is the discovery of the potential benefits of blueberries to the skin and how blueberry extracts can enhance the effectiveness of skin care products. Indeed, several compounds, in particular polyphenols (including anthocyanins, resveratrol and iron chelators such as quercetin and myricetin) and vitamins have been isolated from the blueberry plant. The fact that antioxidants are essential in maintaining the skins youthfulness is now a well-established concept. The key purpose of these substances is to neutralize free radicals, which are caused primarily by excessive UV exposure.
One of the important benefits of blueberries is their vaso-protective (protection of cutaneous capillaries) properties. Flushing, rosacea and facial redness are a result of the dilation of the fine capillaries located just beneath the epidermis. While there is no cure for rosacea, there are a number of preventative measures that enable a better control of the symptoms and a minimization of facial redness. Any product that promotes the capillary health, delaying their dilation and eventual collapse, contributes to a management of those symptoms.
Blueberries play a role in the management of flushing symptoms: they tighten and protect fine capillaries thanks to anthocyanins and are thus ideal in skin care products targeting redness-prone skin. So eat your blueberries, but put them on your face too!

Joy. Gratitude. Comfort. This time of year, there is a palpable expectation of happiness, or at minimum contentment, regardless of what may authentically be felt under the surface of a cheerful disposition. This season can also amplify mental health challenges of anxiety, depression, insomnia, brain fog and overconsumption.
To some degree, whether acute or chronic, stress is a constant in life Yet it is your response to these stressors that lends to our overall quality of life. Our mental and emotional reactions create neurochemical responses that can have a benevolent or more harmful impact on our physiology. Emotional resilience allows you to adapt and respond to stress in a healthier way. It encourages an expanded emotional bandwidth to allow a more balanced nervous system response.

QUESTIONS:
Q: First things first: CAN 'lose weight' be an achievable and realistic goal?
A: I think that we ultimately want to FEEL BETTER: Better about ourselves, our bodies, our energy, our mood, and our clarity. The concept and idea of “losing weight” focuses on the symptom, not the solution. To feel better, we need to revolutionize how we view our practices on self-care and self-love. I believe that all change first starts with an invitation. What do you want to invite in for your greater holistic health and wellbeing in this moment as well as this year? Start general. That way, neither the body or mind can put up a wall of resistance to change, which is sometimes a natural psychological response.
